What awards in the field of digital development Moscow received in 2021

In 2021, Moscow was nominated for 12 Russian and 35 international awards. More than 25 projects won prestigious technology awards. The Department of Information Technologies of Moscow told about digital solutions that were recognized by experts.
For 10 years, the capital has created an advanced and effective digital ecosystem of electronic services and products, which are regularly acknowledged by international experts. The IT community recognition and the consolidation of industry ratings position this year, confirm once again the fact that Moscow is still one of the world leaders in terms of the electronic solutions and innovations implementation pace in everyday life.
One of the smartest and most sustainable cities in the world
In 2021, Moscow again entered top 7 smart cities in the world according to the Intelligent Community Awards rating. Independent experts acknowledged the Russian capital achievements in the field of development and use of communications, residents participation in city management, IT specialists training, improving digital literacy, as well as support and innovations implementation.
This year Moscow received two certificates of compliance with ISO standards for sustainable and smart cities: “Sustainable Cities and Communities — Indicators for City Services” and “Quality of Life, Sustainable Cities and Communities — Indicators for Smart Cities".
Experts also acknowledged the high level of smart technologies implementation for improving life quality in all sectors of the urban economy.
Moscow services — winners of international awards
The platform of the Moscow Innovation Cluster was awarded in two categories of the German Innovation Awards. It was awarded in the main category — IT Services for Business — and in the additional one — Design-Thinking. Charity Service mos.ru joined the rank of the Information Technology category winners. In addition, in January 2021, the service received the international Big Innovation Awards. The award was instituted by the American consulting company Business Intelligence Group. The award is presented annually to organizations and people who implement innovative solutions that have a significant influence on society.
The jury recognized the project aimed at reducing water consumption in Moscow as one of the best smart services for living in the city. In support of the initiatives, a campaign with elements of augmented reality (AR) The Price of Water was held. In addition, Clean Water: How it Turns Out special project, which tells about the processes of water intake and purification and about the way it goes before it gets into the water taps was launched. Besides, the project won the third place in the Mobile Sites and Applications nomination in the Business/Government category at the 18th Annual International Business Awards.
In the IT World Awards contest, in the Team of the Year during COVID-19 category, the silver award was won by the Moscow Government work to prevent the coronavirus infection spread. It also won second place among government agencies at the Global ICT Excellence Awards international contest in the Startup Ecosystem nomination. Experts highly appreciated the technology business support programs implemented by the Moscow Innovation Agency and the Moscow Innovation Cluster.
The winners of the Communitas Awards in 2021 were four digital projects in Moscow. The city charity service mos.ru was awarded international recognition in the Leadership in Service of Society nomination, a set of initiatives aimed at reducing water consumption in Moscow — in the Leadership in Ethics and Nature Protection nomination, the family-ecological project called Our Tree in the Sustainability category and the Soulful Moscow portal — in the Changes for the Better nomination.
In the Smart Cities, Government and Housing and Utilities nomination of the international award in the field of IoT Global Awards, the winner was the Mosecomonitoring portal. The EMIAS.INFO application with the electronic medical record was highly appreciated by the jury in the Health and Wearable Devices category. The award shortlist also includes two IoT projects of the Moscow Government: The System for Monitoring the Builder Safety and Productivity, and the SNEG Project.
In addition, in 2021, the EMIAS.INFO mobile application was included in the top five projects of the healthcare system at the international eHealthcare Leadership Awards in the Best Platform-Oriented Application.
The Moscow service called Social Monitoring became the winner of the Edison Awards in the Innovative Services category (in the Accessibility and Transparency subcategory), having received a bronze award.
Within the framework of the XIV International review-contest of CIS and EAEU cities practice called The City Where You Want to Live, Moscow received diplomas in three nominations: for the organization of the charity support service mos.ru, for the computer vision technologies implementation to analyze medical images, as well as for the development of the Discover Moscow interactive guide through the capital sights.
Moscow is the most digital city in the country
Among the best Internet projects of the Golden Site Award are six Moscow projects: portal mos.ru , My Moscow mobile application, the portal of the Moscow innovation cluster, Moscow investment portal, the portal of suppliers and the Discover Moscow portal.
Four projects of the Moscow Government became the best in the Digital Peaks contest for Russian developers. The winner in The Best Solution to Control COVID-19 nomination was a set of measures aimed at controlling the coronavirus infection spread. The Moscow investment portal was recognized as the best solution for economic development, and the Moscow innovation cluster was awarded the non-competitive nomination For Contribution to the Development of Small Business. The expert jury also evaluated the Remote electronic voting project in On the Way to Digital Democracy nomination.
At the CIPR Digital contest in the field of Information Technology, Moscow won in three nominations. The charity service mos.ru became the Best Digital Service, ICT.Moscow portal was recognized as the Best Digital Media, and Natalia Sergunina, Deputy Moscow Mayor, was awarded the prize in the Digital Transformers nomination.
Digital Twin of Moscow became one of the winners in the Best Innovative Project nomination of the IX All-Russian contest of regional and municipal IT development projects Prof-IT.2021. The capital's development was acknowledged for the artificial intelligence and data management system use.
For the third time in a row, Moscow became the leader of the IQ of Cities urban economy digitalization index among Russian cities, and also again topped the Russian rating of the electronic services quality.
Within the framework of the ‘Golden Autumn — 2021’ Russian agricultural-industrial exhibition, one of the mos.ru service — Search for Missing and Found Animals — won the recognition of the Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia. The capital Veterinary Committee was awarded a gold medal for the service implementation.
In December, six more capital projects were awarded the Runet Prize national award. In the State and Society nomination, the award was given to the ‘Digital Ecosystem of Moscow. The City as a Service’ project, service of renting urban spaces called Together with Culture — in the Creative industries nomination, and the MES Diary mobile application — in the Solutions of the Moscow Electronic School nomination. In addition, the virtual laboratories of MES library won in the Education and Personnel nomination, and the project on the use of computer vision technologies for the analysis of medical images in radiology — in the Health and Medicine nomination. Two Moscow projects — the Discover Moscow travel portal and the digital travel service Russpass — became the Runet Award winners In the Development of Domestic Tourism nomination.
