  • in public transport: in metro trains, Moscow Central Circle (MCC), Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) and Aeroexpress, in buses, electric buses and trams (the corresponding stickers indicate the presence of the network).

2.How can I use the free Wi-Fi network?

To use the free Wi-Fi network, you need to purchase a SIM card from any Russian mobile operator. You will need a local number to identify yourself on the Wi-Fi network.

3.How to connect to Wi-Fi in public transport?

To do this, go to the website gowifi.ru and select the registration method by phone number. After you enter your phone number, your device will receive a flash call or an SMS with an access code, which you will need to enter in a special field. 


To use the Internet in the future, it will be enough to select the MT_FREE network and click the Log in to Internet button on the wi-fi.ru portal.


For quick connection to the MT_FREE Wi-Fi network, you can also use the Wi-Fi_FREE mobile app (to connect for an additional fee and to manage the As at Home service for seamless authorization in the MT_FREE network without ad view).

4.How to connect to Wi-Fi in the city?

If you are in the coverage area of the Moscow_WiFi_Free network, select the Moscow_WiFi_Free network from the list of available networks, open the browser and go through the identification procedure via SMS.


In the future, it will be enough just to choose the Moscow_WiFi_Free network for using Internet. When connecting to the city Wi-Fi, after opening the browser, you will need to click the Log in to Internet button, then a page will open mos.ru/city/projects/wi-fi/ and you will get access to the network (you can use it for three months without re-identification).

5.Why the user identification is required?

The users identification to access Wi-Fi in public places is a requirement of Russian legislation.


Before providing access to the Internet, the telecom operator is obliged to offer the user:

  • enter your mobile phone number, to which a code or a flash call will be sent to confirm the data entered;
  • specify your last name, first name and patronymic, confirming them with an identity document, an account on the unified portal of public services (or the Moscow Mayor mos.ru portal) or in any other way that does not contradict the law.
