More than 30,000 people with flags of Moscow higher educational institutions marched from Universitetsky Prospekt to the viewpoint on Vorobyovy Gory as part of the Moscow Student Parade.
Students of 54 Moscow higher educational institutions joined in this festive event, and the largest delegation included more than 5,000 first-year students. After the procession, they took the oath and accepted the title of a Moscow student.
Rectors of Moscow higher educational institutions, including Viktor Sadovnichy, President of the Russian Union of Rectors, congratulated the students on the new school year. Also, Alexander Bugaev, Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, and Ekaterina Dragunova, Chairman of the Committee for Public Relations and Youth Policy of Moscow, spoke to the first-year students.
The honoured guests noted that students in Moscow have all the opportunities to unlock their potential and receive well-respected scholarship and a demanded specialization.
The fest ended up with a concert Creditable Moscow.
Members of the Moscow Student Council proposed to revive the tradition of Student Parades. The initiative was supported by the rectors of the Moscow higher educational institutions. It was decided to hold the parade on Vorobyovy Gory, in a symbolic place for students.
