Moscow Car-Sharing project was launched in autumn 2015. Over the four years, Moscow residents and guests have made more than 58 million car-sharing trips.
"Moscow car sharing system offers more than 23,000 cars of different operators, flexible rates and convenient services. In recent years, this service has grown even more popular, with 51 million trips out of 58 million made in 2018-2019. Daily, users rent cars more than 140,000 times. It is an easy, fast and convenient service," said Deputy Moscow Mayor, Head of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development Maxim Liksutov.
People prefer short-term car rent to driving their own cars. You can park it free of charge anywhere in the city. Moreover, drivers save on maintenance and repair. Car sharing system helps to decrease traffic load on the roads and parking lots.
Rental costs vary with operating companies, with average rates between RUB 6.00 and 10.00 per minute. Today, there are nine short-term car rental companies in Moscow. By 2020, the total number of cars for rent is expected to increase to 30,000.
To rent a car, you need to register on the website or in the mobile app of a car sharing operator and start a personal account with a copy of your passport and driver's license attached, and a bank card to pay for the service bound.
Rent a car in your personal account. You will be given time to reach the area where the car is parked and use the mobile app to unlock it. The documents will be inside, with the key already in the ignition switch. It is strongly advisable to thoroughly inspect the car before driving off just in case there’s something not OK with the vehicle, and to register damages via the mobile app, if any.
Short-term car rental service is a helpful addition to the existing types of public transport and a convenient alternative to your personal car.
