The Luzhniki Half Marathon  will take place on August 2018. It’s the mass sports event with the second largest number of participants in Russia. The runners from Moscow and other regions will run 2.1 kilometers along the embankments in Central Moscow, passing the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Krymsky Bridge, the Cathedrals of St. Basil and Christ the Savior and the Kremlin.

The Luzhnetskaya, Frunzenskaya, Prechistenskaya, Kremlevskaya, Raushskaya and Kosmodamianovskaya Embankments will be closed for automotive traffic from 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m on the day of the event.

The start is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. People with mobility issues will take part in the marathon together with the other runners, using handbikes or racing wheelchairs. Their race is scheduled to commence 10 minutes ahead of the main start and follow the same route.

The medical and food stations will be provided along the distance. After finishing the marathon all the participants will be awarded commemorative medals. Entertainment activities and events have been arranged to take place at the start-finish point for the runners and any onlookers.

On August 17, the day before the marathon, the organizers will hold the 400 and 800 meters races for kids. Children under 14 will have an opportunity to compete in their own age groups. Each of them will be allotted a start number and a tee shirt and receive gifts from the race’s partners and a finishing medal.

Online registrations for the Half Marathon and the kids’ races have already been closed, but anyone with a desire to participate in this sports festival still has an opportunity to do so. Additional registration points will operate in the tents dispersing the participants’ packages, on August 16 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on August 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
