Moscow transport complex and Soyuzmultfilm Studio have launched a joint project dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the legendary cartoons created at the Studio. Buses, metro trains and bus stops are to be decorated with images of cartoon characters featured in 'Gena the Crocodile', 'Just You Wait!', 'Winnie the Pooh', 'The Bremen Town Musicians' and 'Umka'.

''It is a great honour to launch a joint project with this legendary film studio. More than one generation have been watching its cartoons with great delight, so we are sure that passengers will be pleased to see their favourite cartoon characters," Deputy Moscow Mayor, Head of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development Maxim Liksutov said.

As the first Deputy Director General of Mosgortrans Boris Tkachuk noted, a special themed bus is to launch, too. Until November, it will run along the main route M9 — from Vladykino to Kitai-Gorod metro station. Cartoon characters will also appear at some 100 public transit stops.

In September, Moscow metro will launch a train decorated with cartoon images. For six months, it will be running along Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya line.

On the occasion of the anniversary, 40,000 Troika travel cards with images of favourite characters are to be issued.

They will be available in souvenir shops at Mayakovskaya and Trubnaya metro stations, and in showcases of 'Live Chat' information and reference stalls.

In addition, the Traffic Management Centre will have two themed parkons in September and reflective bracelets with the relevant design produced.

"This year, we are holding a number of events and exhibitions dedicated to the anniversary of the legendary cartoon characters under the title '50 Years Together'. I think that the joint project with the Moscow transport complex will make Moscow citizens and guests recall their favourite characters, will help to take a look at them from new perspective and remember the richest Russian cartoon collection", said Yuliana Slashcheva, Chairman of the Board of Soyuzmultfilm Film Studio.
