Honey, Apple and Nut Feasts of the Saviour: Moscow parks to celebrate three August Orthodox holidays

Festive events are to be held from 14 till 29 August.

During the last month of summer, Moscow parks invite to take part in family celebrations dedicated to the three ancient traditional feasts of August — the Honey, Apple and Nut Feasts of the Saviour. Guests will have fun and learn a lot about Orthodox traditions.

All events are free, with supplies for making crafts and treats also provided for free by the organisers.

Honey Feast of the Saviour

On 14 August, at 11:00 am, Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo Park (2A 5th Voikovsky Proyezd) invites to participate in honey collection competitions, quizzes and master classes. To register for the event, please call +7 (499) 557-03-48.

On the same day, at 02:30 pm, the Forest Fairy-Tale Ecology Centre will hold an open class 'Bee Family', where you are to learn a lot about the hierarchy and the roles in a bee-hive. To register for the event, please call +7 (499) 643-38-43.

The Birdhouse Ecology Centre invites to celebrate the Honey Feast of the Saviour over a cup of tea. Guests will learn about the benefits of honey, the history of wild-hive beekeeping and folk traditions associated with honey collection. The event starts at 03:00 pm. Apple Feast of the Saviour

On 18 August, at 06:00 pm, Veteran Park in Serebryany Bor will host Juicy Apples, a festivity event to discover some interesting facts about the history of the Apple Feast of the Saviour and folk traditions associated with apple harvesting. No registration is required.

On 19 August, at 12:00 pm, Bitsevsky Forest Natural and Historical Park's guests will be treated to apple compote. The festive programme also includes a lecture, a quiz and 'Go on Rolling, Apple, Spin Around the Plate, and Tell Us the Truth' quest (quotation from a Russian fairy-tale). At a handicraft workshop, you will learn stamp decoration and make unique souvenirs.

On the same day, at 02:00 pm, the ecological site 'Forest Gifts' located in Moskvoretsky Park invites to attend an 'Apple' workshop and a 'Nature Gifts' quiz.  To register for the event, please call +7 (499) 726-61-75.

At 02:30 pm, the Forest Fairy-Tale Ecology Centre will hold a master class 'Oh, My Apple' (quotation from a famous Russian song) to distinguish fruits.  To register for the event, please call +7 (499) 643-38-43.

On 20 August, at 11:00 am, a festive interactive programme will take place at the Fallow Deer House open-air complex in Zelenograd (2 Nikolsky Proyezd). It offers an ecological quest and insightful games.

On 25 August, at 12:00 pm, the Royal Apiary Ecology Centre arranges a family holiday 'Celebrate Three Feasts of the Saviour in the Apiary'. Entertainers will welcome guests and invite them to participate in games, contests and quizzes, and attend workshops to make some souvenirs.

In addition, on 25 August, at 03:00 pm, Kuskovo Ecology School invites to participate in a honey-and-apple tea party. Guests will discuss environmental issues over a cup of tea with honey and fresh apples.

Nut Feast of the Saviour

On 29 August, at 11:00 am, come to Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo Park to enjoy 'Nut Feast of the Saviour' folk festival. The programme features folk dances, games, 'Crane' origami and nut handicrafts master classes.  To register for the event, please call +7 (499) 557-03-48.

At 03:00 pm, the Birdhouse Ecology Centre invites to attend the event 'Welcome to the Nut Feast of the Saviour'.
