From 13 through 19 May Moscow residents and guests can attend the most interesting exhibitions for free as part of the Moscow Museum Week. This time, the programme includes two all-city events ― campaigns “Days of Historical and Cultural Heritage” and “A Night at the Museum” to take place on 18 May.
Some organizations will be closed on 19 May because of “A Night at the Museum” event. More information about this is available on the museums’ websites and by their contact phone numbers.
No any IDs or pre-booking is required to attend a display or an exhibition, just get your free ticket at the box-office. The programme schedule is available at the Mosgortur website in 'Museums for Free' section (information in Russian).
Previously, free admission to the museums subordinate to Moscow’s Department of Culture was provided only every third Sunday of a month. This is not very convenient for visitors wishing to attend several spots. That is why the campaign has been reformatted.
During the first Moscow Museum Week held 15 to 21 April, more than 225,000 people have visited the capital’s museums. This is 20 percent more than during the same period in the previous year.
At the Marina Tsvetayeva House Museum, the number of visitors has virtually doubled compared to April of 2018. The attendance of the Museum of GULAG History has grown by 70 percent, that of the Lefortovo Museum of History by 20 percent, and of the Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics by 18 percent.
The top visited museums were the Multimedia Complex of Actual Arts, the Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics and the Kuskovo Estate Museum.
Also, the number of excursions for schoolchildren, students, pensioners, special needs people and other privileged public has grown considerably.
