Mosgortrans team won the silver medal at the European Championship among tram drivers (Tram-EM European Tramdriver Championship). Competitions were held on May 4 in Brussels, Belgium. 25 teams from 21 countries took part in it.
Mosgortrans team consisted of Anton Medvedev and Victoria Ulyanova, tram drivers of the Bauman tram depot. The participants’ skills were assessed in individual and team competitions in six trials of varying complexity. According to the competition's outcome, the Moscow drivers took the second place and lost only to the tournament hosts. Anton Medvedev also won the silver medal in the individual competition.
"For the first time at the European tournament, the drivers competed on three different types of carriages — retro tram and modern two- and four-section compounds running regular Brussels routes. Our drivers showed a great performance in a highly competitive environment. I congratulate them on the astonishing outcome! I am sure that this experience will facilitate further improvement of their professional skills," said Leonid Antonov, Director General of Mosgortrans.
The team from the Romanian city of Oradea took the third place in the championship, the fourth one was taken by the drivers from Luxembourg with top five crowned by the participants from Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The European Tramdriver Championship has been held for eight years in a row. Last May, the Mosgortrans team participated in this tournament for the first time and took the seventh place. In the individual competition, driver Alexander Pavlov was in the top three.
