The Active Citizen project participants voted for events to be included in the Moscow Programme of the Library Night 2019 to be held on 20 April at libraries, bookstores, museums and art spaces.
A total of 175,115 "active citizens" took part in the voting. Almost one of three (29.41 percent of participants) considered that meetings with writers should be included in the programme. 14.76 percent voted for book presentations. 12.13 percent would like to attend various master classes on Library Night.
10.16 percent of “active citizens” favoured exhibitions in the program, and 9.29 percent supported immersive performances. 5.74 percent chose various lectures. 11.62 percent found it difficult to choose events, and 6.36 percent considered that the Library Night programme should be made by professionals.
More than 1,000 voters sent their wishes for the campaign program. Among them are celebrities reading classics, quizzes and contests on famous books, as well as literary tours of Moscow.
First held in 2012, Library Night has become an annual event since then. Until late at night, libraries throughout the country receive visitors who come to discuss their favourite books, take part in literary contests, excursions, listen to fascinating lectures, meet interesting people.
In 2018, more than 70,000 people joined Library Night in Moscow, with about 2,000 events held.
