The news about the opening of an operating room for babies at Speransky Municipal Children’s Hospital No. 9 ranks first. The ranking also includes innovations in transport and culture.

The Active Citizen project has presented a ranking of urban innovations launched in the first quarter of this year, with changes in health, ecology, transport and culture ranked the highest.

The opening of an operating room for babies at Speransky Municipal Children’s Hospital No. 9 scored 4.84 points out of five possible. It provides surgical care for children of all ages. The operating room has up-to-date equipment, including a video endoscope cart for newborns, special mattresses and blankets to maintain necessary body temperature.

24/7 duty of a medical helicopter at the Yudin City Clinical Hospital was given 4.83 points.  Moscow Aviation Centre (MAC) helicopters evacuate victims from anywhere in Moscow. The average helicopter arrival time is 7-10 min (with 15-20 min to get to Troitsky and Novomoskovsky administrative areas).

The Brateyevskaya Poima Wildlife Sanctuary, first in Moscow,  got 4.81 points. Such protected natural areas are created in the habitats of rare, endangered or vulnerable animal species. A unique variety of birds ― 174 species, and 63 red-listed species among the animals have been discovered in Brateyevskaya Poima.

Free admission to Moscow museums ranks fourth. Museums and exhibition halls subordinated to the Moscow Department of Culture will offer free admission once in three weeks of the mobnth. The innovation was appreciated by many 'active citizens': it scored 4.78 points. Each Museum has its own free admission day. For example, you can visit the Moscow Museum of Modern Art for free on Tuesday, view the exposition of the State Darwin Museum on Thursday, and the Manege exhibition halls on Sunday.

The launch of Ivolga trains running from the Belorussky Railway Station to Odintsovo ranks the last. This innovation has got 4.77 points. In the future, such innovative six-car trains are expected to run along the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD). A non-stop trip from the station to Odintsovo takes 21 minutes.

The first two diameters, MCD-1 Odintsovo ― Lobnya and MCD-2 Nakhabino ― Podolsk are to be launched in late 2019 ― early 2020. The diameters will connect different directions of the Moscow railway. Thanks to new surface metro, passengers will be able to cross Moscow in 40 minutes.

Active Citizen project conducts ongoing voting on important urban issues. Currently, Moscow residents are choosing services to be first introduced for metro passengers, issues to be discussed at business workshops and master classes, as well as hobby clubs and studios for children to be opened at VDNKh in the summertime.

To date, the Active Сitizen project accounts for more than 2.2 million citizens registered. They have taken part in almost 4,000 votings. Moscow residents are active in proposing their Moscow improvement ideas ― there are more than 115 million of them.
