City business programmes trained 100,000 plus

Digital marketing was most popular last year.

City business service centres have been conducting workshops, seminars and various sorts of training to support small and medium-sized business, and it’s all free, Deputy Moscow Mayor Natalya Sergunina pointed out.

“Those taking part in free educational programmes and such major events as the Transformation Business Forum exceeded 100,000 people in 2018. Digital marketing was the most popular subject with more than 9,000 Moscow residents opting for this,” Natalya Sergunina added.

Management and sales were also popular in 2018.

The project is organized by Moscow’s Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development. Training courses, workshops and seminars take place at centres located in all the administrative areas, as well as other city venues.

Moscow Small Business (MSB) Startup School has been set up for beginners and also for those who are still contemplating launching a business. Its students study marketing and sales, get to know city programmes for small and medium-sized businesses and learn about the specifics of legislation and basic accounting. Over 2,000 people underwent training at the MSB Startup School in 2018. The classes were held in business service centres, at the Digital Business Space and the Tekhnograd educational facility.

Special educational projects are also being developed in addition to regular workshops and seminars. For example, free English courses were provided for those intending to work in the service industry during the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
