Vykhino, Shcholkovskaya, Novokosino, Yugo-Zapadnaya, Domodedovskaya, Novogireyevo and Medvedkovo are the starting points in greatest demand and Kurskaya, Kievskaya and Komsomolskaya are the most popular destinations.

The Moscow Metro has compiled a list of the most heavily planned route searches on the Moscow Metro mobile app. Each month passengers plan about 2 million metro routes with the app.

“Routes are planned from terminal or close to terminal stations the most: Vykhino, Shcholkovskaya, Novokosino, Yugo-Zapadnaya, Domodedovskaya, Novogireyevo and Medvedkovo. They are the top starting points. Normally, users go toward the centre of the city to the Circle Line stations: Kurskaya, Kievskaya and Komsomolskaya,” said Deputy Mayor and Head of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development Maxim Liksutov.

Passengers also plan routes to stations near recreation areas a lot (VDNKh, Arbatskaya and Okhotny Ryad). Generally, the app plans routes that take from 17 to 36 minutes.

The Moscow Metro mobile app was launched in 2017. It has been downloaded by over 1.8 million users. App users are the first to learn about new stations or maintenance schedules from push notifications. The Moscow Metro app is compatible with Android Wear and Apple Watch smart watches and supports Siri voice assistant.

The application can map out a route that includes all of the city’s transport and commuter train schedules: it will give directions to a specific point, determine the travel time, the number of stops and the cost of the fare. Moreover, exits from stations are numbered and the streets where to the exits lead are indicated in the application. The programme can transfer the travel ticket to a Troika card using Samsung Pay and Apple Pay functions.
