Treasures of Russian Museums: new exhibition to open in Manezh Central Exhibition Hall

Manezh Central Exhibition Hall is to host the Treasures of Russian Museums exhibition. It will be held from 4 to 25 November as part of the 17th church and public exhibition-forum “Orthodox Russia – National Unity Day.”
Visitors are to see about 280 exhibits from the collections of 50 Russian museums. Among the exhibits are portraits of nobility, petty bourgeoisie and peasants, as well as landscapes and historical paintings collected over several centuries.
The exhibition includes pictures by Karl Bryullov, Alexei Venetsianov, Orest Kiprensky, Vasily Tropinin, Isaac Levitan, Boris Kustodiyev and other artists. In addition, educational programmes and excursions will be on offer.

During the organisation of the event,145,040 kilometreswere travelled to collect the works from regional museums. Many pictures were restored specifically for the exhibition.
There are plans to continue this series of exhibitions in 2019–2020. The shows will be devoted to Russian and West European art.
