Books and more: Bukinist book festival commences in Moscow
Antique books will be available for reading and buying at the Bukinist second-hand book festival venues and book-crossing stations.

Moscow’s largest second-hand and antique book festival has started at several venues throughout the city centre, Head of the Moscow Department of Trade and Services Alexei Nemeryuk said.

The festival is taking place on Novy Arbat until 20 October.

“About 30 outlets offering all kinds of literature will work on Novy Arbat for three months. There’ll also be children's and adult books many of which are more than 100 years old. Everyone is welcome to come and browse,” Mr Nemeryuk said.

The event will include workshops and book exchanging – book-crossing stations are all along the market rows. One of the highlights of the festival will be what the street cafes are serving as the food offered on the menus will be prepared according to famous authors’ recipes.

“Any book-seller can become a participant of the festival. We have installed those  temporary demountable market structures on Novy Arbat and they will be there for more than two or three weeks as well as lighter ones usable for two or three days after submitting an application. It really boils down to how many books you have to sell,” Alexei Nemeryuk explained.
