The 2018 Moscow Urban Forum is demonstrating the latest technology and innovations in Moscow education. The interactive panel at the Moscow: A City of Education stand presented local projects, including the Moscow Online School, foundation programmes and much more.
Forum visitors were particularly interested in the interactive astronomy quiz in the VR format. Donning 3D goggles, guests travelled to space and performed tasks in virtual reality.
Similar activities are also available for physics and biology classes. Special equipment simulates conditions that are impossible to recreate in real-time, for example, planet approaches and orbital movement.
“Virtual reality allows us to lift knowledge and skill testing to a completely new level because students can immerse themselves in conditions that would be dangerous or impossible in the real world,” says Damir Zakirov, head of the Innovation Lab at the Moscow Centre for Education Quality.
Interactive VR quizzes in physics came out in the autumn of 2016. The astronomy test was presented in the autumn of 2017 at the City of Education Forum.
The Moscow Urban Forum is taking place in Zaryadye Park on 17−22 July. The theme of this year’s event is “Megacity of the Future. New Space for Living.” Some 10,000 people are participating in the business programme. The cultural programme involves over 100,000 participants.
