Discover Moscow: New tourist website launches in three languages

Moscow has launched a tourist website with a tour guide around the city landmarks and the Discover Moscow smart entertainment card. This site will help tourists find information about ways to travel to Moscow, interesting museums, tours and their cost. In addition, the website analyses the user’s registration data to give advice on what places to visit.
This tourist website is a joint project by the Moscow Department of Information Technology and Department of Sports and Tourism. All the information is available in three languages: Russian, English and Chinese.
According to the Department of Sports and Tourism press service, Discover Moscow’s database includes more than 300 landmarks, such as museums, churches, monuments, old estates and other buildings, and will expand. The website also offers tips for tourists who want to come to Moscow, such as how to fill in the documents to get a Russian visa or airline tickets, what restaurants and hotels there are in Moscow and how to get to the airports. The website also shows the number of available hotel rooms.
“Tourists can use the smart filter to search for entertainment in Moscow. It shows tours around Moscow, cheap museum tickets or information about festivals and other events planned in Moscow,” said a spokesperson of the Department of Information Technology. “Tourists need to mark their age, preferable leisure activities and estimated travel budget (high, middle or economic) to receive recommendations on how to spend time in the capital. Landmarks and other places to see are chosen individually. For example, the website would recommend several sites to French students and completely different ones for a senior couple from Germany.”
The Discover Moscow city application can also help tourists learn more about Moscow. It contains descriptions of over 1,300 buildings, 610 landmarks, 69 museums, 166 areas and 207 historical figures. Using the advanced search filter, users can save time searching for information about interesting sites such as old houses, city estates, railway stations, museums, churches and iconic landmarks. The app can sort all historical Moscow landmarks by the year they were built (starting from the 16th to the mid-20th century), architectural style and designation.
