The capital is already preparing to celebrate its 871st anniversary this coming autumn and continues to host dazzling shows and various events each day. In the past few years, festival organisers have been asking users of the Active Citizen website for advice, so that City Day would be a memorable occasion.
This year, website users should say what events of the 2017 City Day celebrations should go onto the agenda. Apart from the main celebrations, they suggest holding a City Day for children, thematic guided tours all over the city, historic quests and festive firework displays in parks, as well as various programmes of charity foundations.
Website users can also select various events due to be held in central Moscow, including concerts with classical and pop music, theatrical performances and poetic soirees.
Active Citizens have already helped select City Day events, with 194,000 people voting last year. At that time, 33 percent suggested firework displays in parks, and another 27 percent called for holding City Day celebrations for children. When asked about musical performances and thematic soirees, 38 percent chose pop concerts, and another 27 percent preferred theatrical performances.
After the vote, the two most popular answers to each question were selected, with 17 parks hosting festive firework displays and various events for children. Muzeon Arts Park was the venue of a grand concert Moscow and its Heroes, and a theatrical performance called History of Moscow’s Dynasties took place at the Kuskovo estate.
