Icelandic football fans in Moscow organised #TeamIceland celebration in Zaryadye Park to celebrate their team’s participation in the 2018 FIFA World Cup at 11 am on 16 June.
Musicians Friðrik Dór and Jon Jonsson performed for the public. Ahead of the match with Argentina, all Iceland team supporters shouted a victorious Viking chant. After the drum beat, they raised their hands, clapped and shouted together: “HU!” The pace of the drum beat and shouting then got faster and faster.
Icelandic singer and song writer Emiliana Torrini has also come to support her team in Moscow. The Indie pop singer performed together with The Colorist Orchestra on 15 June at 8 pm in the boiler room of former Bakery No.9. Another Icelandic band, Sunna Gunnlaugs Jazz Trio, performed during the warmup.
The Moscow authorities have prepared a cultural programme for all 2018 World Cup visitors. Football supporters holding a Fan ID are entitled to a 50 percent discount for entry tickets to 76 museums. Pedestrian and bus tours are also available for those who want to find out about the mysteries behind some of the Moscow tourist sights, about Moscow football clubs and their famous players as well as to take a look at the newly refurbished stadiums.
