Ten themed trains dedicated to the 2018 FIFA World Cup will be launched in the Moscow Metro. The trains will run on the Sokolnicheskaya and Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya lines for 90 days. The first two trains are already in service on the purple line.
“On 14 June, two trains covered with FIFA football graphics began running on the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya Line. The face side of the carriages carries information on the 11 cities hosting the matches. Inside, passengers will feel like players on a football pitch and will be able to learn popular and little known facts about world football and also learn greetings in different languages,” said Roman Latypov, First Deputy Head of the Moscow Metro for Strategic Development and Customer Service.
In addition, passengers will see in each carriage rare archive photos taken by well-known Soviet photographers. Celebrated coaches and players, highlights of international matches and USSR championships, plus decades-old views of Moscow stadiums will be featured in 85 photos.
All in all, ten trains will be in service on the Sokolnicheskaya and Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya lines, five trains on each line. The trains on these routes take passengers to and from the main Moscow sport sites – Luzhniki and Spartak Stadiums.
