A design library has opened in Moscow based at Library No. 95. This is a joint project by the libraries in eastern Moscow and the club of industrial designers.
“We have been preparing the design library project very carefully for a long time. Along with our partners, we spent several month looking for the best solution on the visual implementation, the theme, and educational presentation,” said the general director of the Moscow Centralised Library System of the Eastern Administrative Area.
After upgrading under the Growth Points programme, Library No. 95 has been transformed. There is now a new, high-tech reading hall, relaxation zones, working rooms, a cloakroom and a reception area.
The library will host lectures, book presentations and educational events by designers. Each visitor will be able to work in a studio where he or she can create a prototype, photograph it and display it in the showroom.
Over 50 city libraries will receive a theme by the end of the year. They will turn into cultural centres on science, creativity, arts and hobbies, such as comic books, crafts, ethnography and high-technology. Each library will have a unique design, name and a special book inventory.
