The entire bus fleet in Moscow is being inspected after an accident near the Slavyansky Bulvar metro station took place. A bus belonging to a Moscow regional company drove into an underpass full of pedestrians.
“We are trying to determine the reasons for the accident. I have ordered an investigation of the entire bus fleet and services responsible for releasing the transport facilities onto the road. I would like to send my condolences to all the friends and families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to all those who were injured. All required assistance will be immediately rendered to them. Later we will carry out a full investigation and any guilty persons will be punished,” said the Moscow Mayor at the scene of the accident.
The bus belonging to a Moscow regional transport company, driving along the route Slavyansky Bulvar – Skolkovo, lost control and ploughed into pedestrians in an underpass. According to preliminary data, four people were killed in the accident, nine were sent to hospital and two refused to be taken to hospital. For the time being the rescue operation has been completed.
Information about the road accident came to the Crisis Management Centre at 2:48 pm. Fire and rescue units swiftly arrived at the scene of the accident. They removed seven people from the underpass, but four were already dead. The rescuers managed to prevent a fire from taking place in the bus.
Two ambulance helicopters were engaged in the operation to evacuate the severely injured people from the scene of the accident.
