One more themed train dedicated to the forthcoming winter holiday season was launched on Monday, 25 December, on the Moscow Metro’s Circle Line. The festive train will be operating for the entire month.
The launch ceremony was held at the Moscow Metro’s Krasnaya Presnya maintenance facility. Father Frost together with Snegurochka (Snow Maiden) greeted the first passengers taking the train. The new design corresponds with the city’s New Year celebrations concept.
“Before the New Year, we received many requests from passengers asking to launch New Year themed trains,” said Roman Latypov, First Deputy Head of the Moscow Metro for Strategic Development and Customer Service. “We decided to please our passengers and launch several New Year trains this year. On 25 December, we launched one themed train, while the Journey to Christmas train was launched on 21 December. The two themed trains are expected to carry over one and a half million passengers during this month.”
The first train themed train dedicated to the winter holiday season was used in the Moscow Metro last December. The new train ran on the Circle Line for three weeks and carried over a million passengers.
The Moscow Metro regularly launches themed trains dedicated to certain occasions and important events. In 2017, the Moscow Metro launched 10 themed trains, dedicated to the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Times & Epochs historical festival, Russia Focused on the Future exhibition and many others.
