Wrestlers from eight countries to come to Moscow for the international tournament

The international freestyle, Greco-Roman and women’s wrestling tournament, Open Cup of European Nations–ALROSA Cup, will take place at the Dynamo Sports Palace at Krylatskoye on 11 and 12 November. About 150 athletes from Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Hungary, Georgia, Moldavia, Romania and Ukraine will compete at the event.

Olympic Champion Mikhail Mamiashvili, President of the Russian Wrestling Federation and Vice President of United World Wrestling (UWW), noted that the Cup will be a preview of European teams on the eve of the Olympic Games. Mamiashvili said, foreign wrestlers will be worthy competitors to the Russian athletes.

Moscow will be represented by Artyom Surkov, Pavel Saleyev, Sosruko Kodzokov, Musa Yevloyev, Kantemir Magomedov and Zurabi Gedekhauri in Greco-Roman wrestling. Russia’s freestyle wrestling team includes Moscow athletes Khasankhusein Badrudinov, Alexander Bogomoyev and Murad Nukhkadiyev. Muscovites Darya Leksina, Yekaterina Polishchuk and Irina Ologonova will be on the national women’s team.

Visitors will also be able to see grappling, a special fighting sport that unites techniques from all types of combat.
