The rhythmic gymnastics centre in Luzhniki will have a unique design. Its roof will look like a flying gymnastics ribbon, Sergei Sobyanin said on his Twitter page.
The rectangular building with an undulating roof will have five floors (plus one floor underground). It will host a 4,000-seat arena, training halls, a gym, a medical rehabilitation centre, a doping control room and a spa area. The centre will also offer a hotel for athletes and rooms for the media and VIP guests. A collapsible stage will be installed in the arena for concerts. The work is slated to finish next year.
All in all, 45 sport facilities are under construction in Luzhniki, among them a swimming pool, an ice arena and the largest tennis venue in Europe. The plan is to complete them in 2019.
