On 12 September, the Moscow Central Circle (MCC) set a new record – its Lastochka trains managed to carry 400,000 passengers. The MCC was opened a little more than a year ago, on 10 September 2016. The overall number of passengers is over 100 million by now.
The MCC has become a viable new transport alternative in Moscow, a new city railway service. Meanwhile, the MCC is integrated into the Moscow Metro system, functioning as its 14th line. It provides an interchange to the metro and to the radial commuter lines. The MCC has significantly eased the burden on the metro and the central railway terminals.
New, fast Lastochka trains run on the Moscow Central Circle. They are fitted with climate control, bio-toilets, electronic displays, bicycle racks, sockets for device charging and a free Wi-Fi.
