Muscovites will have the chance to give blood on World Donor Day, which is celebrated at the World Health Organisation’s initiative on 14 June, the birthday of Karl Landsteiner, the Austrian doctor and immunologist who identified the human blood groups.
The Moscow Healthcare Department has organised mobile blood donation centres in various parts of the capital.
It will be possible to give blood on 14 June at Diagnostic Centre No. 3 at 9 Sormovskaya Ulitsa. On 15 June, a centre will be open at OAO Vega at 34 Kutuzovsky Prospekt, the bank building at 16a building 1 Leningradskoye Shosse. On 16 June, blood donors can go to Vinogradov City Clinical Hospital at 61 Ulitsa Vavilova. All mobile centres will be open from 10am to 2pm.
There will also be a round table at Kuznechiki hospital (at Ryazanovskoye) on developing youth initiatives in Moscow, and an event for donors and donor movement organisers.
