Female zebu calf born at VDNKh City Farm
The Moscow Zoo will hand over two peacock chickens to the farm.

A humped zebu cow at the City Farm centre at VDNKh has given birth to a female calf with brown fur.

Social network users will be asked to choose a name for the newborn calf during a contest that will kick off in VDNKh groups on Facebook, Instagram and VKontakte this weekend.

On Friday, 9 June, at 2 pm two new exotic animals will move to VDNKh. The Moscow Zoo will hand over two peacock chickens to the City Farm as a gift. So far, the peacock’s genders have been impossible to determine because their parents aren’t letting anyone near them.

On 9, 10 and 11 June, City Farm employees will conduct Peacock Tail workshops with interactive lectures on these birds. The workshops will begin at 2 pm on 9 June and at noon, 3 pm and 6 pm on 10 and 11 June.

Visitors can come and see the new inhabitants every day, except Mondays. City Farm is open from 10:30 am to 7 pm on workdays and from 10:30 am to 8 pm on weekends and holidays.

Currently, City Farm has four zebus: a bull named Baron, a cow named Tigra and their offspring – a female calf named Marta, who was born in March 2016, and her just-born sister.

Zebu is a fairly rare cattle breed for Russia.
