The tram line is to reach Belarussky Railway Station, and vehicle traffic will be restricted on some Lesnaya Street sections during construction.
In June, the city will start the project to extend the tram line between Miussky Pereulok and Tverskaya Zastava Square. Today, trams on this street do not reach Belarussky Railway Station, stopping about three blocks short of Tverskaya Street at 7 Lesnaya Street. Old tracks and a blind alley will be removed during construction of the new section, and the line will be extended to Belarussky Railway Station. A tram turnaround will be built on Tverskaya Zastava Square under the My Street programme.

Vehicle traffic on this street will be restricted stage by stage.
On 10-30 June, traffic will be restricted between Tverskaya Zastava Square and 3rd Tverskaya-Yamskaya Street.
On 1-14 July, one-way and single-lane traffic to Novoslobodskaya Street will open on a Lesnaya Street section between 3rd Tverskaya-Yamskaya Street and Alexander Nevsky Street.
On 15-21 July, workers will start laying tram tracks at the Lesnaya Street- Alexander Nevsky Street-1st Lesnoi Pereulok intersection.
The center of the intersection will be closed to traffic, and two lanes will remain open for traffic – one lane each in both directions.
On 22 July-11 August, only one lane will be open between Alexander Nevsky Street and 9 Lesnaya Street (towards Tverskaya Zastava Square).
Drivers will be able to detour on parallel streets and choose their own routes based on the traffic-restriction schedule.
On 12-30 August, tram tracks will be re-laid between 9 Lesnaya Street and Miussky Pereulok, with trams stopping at 2nd Lesnoi Pereulok during that time. Vehicle traffic will remain unobstructed.
The new 1.22-kilometre track section will be completed this autumn. After the routes are extended, passengers riding from Belarussky Railway Station to Railways University, the Durov Animal Theatre and the Olimpiisky Sport Complex will save up to 15 minutes en route.
The Belarussky Vokzal (Belarussky Railway Station) tram stop will be built on Tverskaya Zastava Square. The stop’s elevated platform will feature a comfortable waiting pavilion. The platform will be at the same level as the tram floors and one step away from the trams. People with disabilities will be able to leave the platform and reach a pedestrian crossing using a special ramp. Bus stops will be relocated closer to the railway station and Belarusskaya metro station, for more convenient changes.
New-generation six-door Vityaz-M trams with climate control and navigation systems and video cameras will use the new tracks.
Construction has already begun on Tverskaya Zastava Square under the My Street programme. The square’s appearance will change soon, and it is to receive a public garden with pedestrian walks, grass, vintage lamps and benches. A monument to writer Alexei “Maxim” Gorky by legendary sculptor Vera Mukhina will be reinstalled on the square. New cobblestones will be used, and navigation markers will help city residents and tourists arriving at Belarussky Railway Station to find their bearings. A more detailed mos.ru story deals with the square improvement project.
