The Moscow Mayor honoured the memory of soldiers who fell in the Great Patriotic War.

On the eve of the 72nd anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Sergei Sobyanin took part in a flower- and wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden and at the monument to Marshall Zhukov on Manezhnaya Square.

The ceremony started with Preobrazensky Regiment personnel carrying four pine wreaths decorated with flowers and red ribbons up to the Eternal Flame. The ceremony was accompanied by the Preobrazensky Regiment orchestra and a drill performed by the honour guard.

Moscow City Duma members, representatives of executive agencies, veteran, children’s, youth and other civil society organisations, religious denominations, and veterans of war were also present at the ceremony. After laying the flowers and wreaths, they honoured the memory of the fallen soldiers by holding a minute of silence.
