Russia: My History taking place at VDNKh is a programme for those who want to spend their days off in the city. The programme will feature re-enactments, films, virtual reality shows and workshops.
Visitors will be given three sets of virtual reality glasses to watch historical films and the three-dimensional panoramic image of Moscow in 1941: The Counteroffensive.
A multimedia zone in the park’s atrium was established for the May holidays. It features a VR zone in the centre so that visitors can take part in a 1941 battle and drive a Katyusha multiple rocket launcher on Red Square during a parade. Using 360 degree virtual reality glasses you’ll be able to do aerobatic manoeuvres together with the famous Russian Knights.
The three-dimensional panoramic image, Moscow in 1941: The Counteroffensive, only opened recently but has already been visited by over 50,000 people. There are only five such shows in Russia. Admission will be free on 9 May; the cost of a ticket on other days can be found on the park’s website.
Films will be shown at 3 pm on the main nine-metre screen. The Evolution of Tanks series will be screened on 8 May. The film will feature the evolution of tanks and the importance of military equipment in a war. The film May 1945, dedicated to the resilience of the Soviet people, the efforts of millions of them to fight the Nazis, will be screened on 9 May.
