Next year, the city will see a leap in newly constructed hotels, up from the average 7-10 hotels opened per year.

There are plans to build 49 hotels in Moscow by the end of 2019, which will bring about 7,800 rooms to the city, said Deputy Moscow Mayor for Urban Development and Construction Marat Khusnullin.

“On average, some 7-10 hotels open in Moscow each year. In 2016, the city added eight hotels with 1,387 rooms. The plans for this year include 11 hotels with 2,840 rooms,” the Deputy Mayor noted. He highlighted that a leap in the number of newly constructed hotels is expected next year. To be precise, 27 hotels will be put into operation, of which 12 will be built as soon as in early 2018.

Marat Khusnullin pointed out that one of the hotels will be located at the Park of Legends sports and entertainment complex. He also mentioned a hotel with 340 rooms at the Park Huaming integrated Chinese business centre.

Mr Khusnullin explained that the hotel distribution plan, which takes into account the inflow of tourists to the city, has been effective in Moscow.

Last year, about 17.5 million people came to see the capital of Russia. The city has prioritised building and upgrading hotels due to the expected rise in tourism in 2017-2018.
