Beginning on Palm Sunday, 9 April, free electric cars will circulate around five Moscow cemeteries –Nikolo-Arkhangelskoye, Perepechinskoye, Domodedovskoye, Mitinskoye and Alabushevskoye. Target users are pensioners and low-mobility persons, but other visitors can also have a ride.
“The electric car route runs from the cemetery’s entrance to the remotest point with several stops on the way,” the Ritual company’s press service reported.
Muscovites will be able to use the service daily from 9 am to 5 pm. Each electric car is capable of reaching a speed of 24 km/h and can hold up to six passengers.
Besides that, 210 stands will sell flowers and wreaths, which is three times more than before, in preparation for Easter. “Today, floral products have been sold at 56 stands at Moscow cemeteries. On days when there are traditionally many visitors, we will open an additional 154 stands,” Ritual said.
This year, Easter will be celebrated on 16 April, and Holy Week will last until 23 April.
