The Moscow authorities hope to deepen economic cooperation with Bavaria, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said during a meeting with Minister-President of Bavaria Horst Seehofer.
“It is very good that the two rapidly developing European regions maintain relations at this period of international turbulence. Bavaria has always been a major foreign economic and cultural partner of Moscow. There are 850 Bavarians developing their businesses in Moscow,” Mr Sobyanin said.
He said that business interests between the partners have not slackened despite economic problems. “We can work more energetically in the economy and business and revive closer ties among partners in this sector. We are willing to further strengthen our relations,” the Moscow Mayor said.
Horst Seehofer thanked Sergei Sobyanin for the invitation to visit Moscow and proposed maintaining the format of annual meetings. He invited a delegation from Moscow to visit Bavaria. Mr Seehofer pointed out the good relations between Bavaria and Moscow in the current geopolitical situation.
The Minister-President of Bavaria recalled his visit to Moscow last year. ”Everything you told us about your city and its development was very important for us,” Mr Seehofer said, adding that he was impressed by Moscow’s achievements in the field of healthcare. “You told us that it is possible to monitor the information on appointments with specialists people make or will make. We were impressed,” he said.
He said that the Bavarian delegation’s ministers wanted to study Moscow’s experience and see which technologies can be used in Bavaria.
In early 2016, the governments of Moscow and Bavaria signed a cooperation agreement.
Before meeting with the Minister-President of Bavaria, Mayor Sobyanin attended Mr Seehofer’s meeting with President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin.
