New running season to start in Moscow on 9 April
Six thousand people will run a five-kilometre race around Luzhniki

Fans of running will toe the starting line for the first time on 9 April this season. April Run, a five-kilometre race, will take place around the Luzhniki Stadium on that day.

The route will be mapped around the Olympic complex: along Novoluzhnetsky Proyezd and Luzhnetskaya Embankment. In addition to resuming their training, the participants can enjoy views of the Moscow City International Business Centre, Vorobyovskaya Embankment, the Moscow University building, and the Luzhniki Grand Sport Arena.

This year the race has changed its name; it used to be called First Run. In 2013, only 784 people took part in the race, and this year the organisers expect 6,000 runners. The famous tennis-player and public figure Vera Zvonaryova is among the participants.
