The Moscow Central Circle (MCC) has prepared a pleasant spring surprise for the MCC passengers paying for their rides with Samsung Pay or MasterCard mobile payment services. From 1 March through 30 April, they can ride the MCC free of charge on weekends and holidays, 8 March included. The charged fare will be refunded to a passenger’s account within 10 minutes.
“The Moscow Metro keeps on improving its services, offering a broader range of payment options and making it more cutting-edge by adding innovative payment tools. As we launch this service, we want to make as many passengers as possible aware of new payment options on the MCC,” said Roman Latypov, First Deputy Head for Strategic Development and Work with Clients at the Moscow Metro.
Last year, a similar payment option was launched for Apple Pay users. MasterCard holders, too, could use the MCC free of charge every Monday throughout December 2016 and on 1 January 2017. Paying with Apple Pay will require an iPhone SE, iPhone 6 or later versions, or Apple Watch. No internet access is necessary: the payment will go through even if a 3G-connection is unstable or absent.
All ticket offices, ticket machines and turnstiles are equipped with contactless card readers, including for Samsung Pay. Paying at a turnstile will give you a discount: a ride will cost 40 roubles, or nearly 30 percent less than a similar ticket bought at a ticket office.
