“Parking holidays” have been announced in Moscow. For four days, from 23 through 26 February, drivers will be able to use city parking free of charge, the Moscow Parking authorities said. This is due to the Defender of the Fatherland Day holidays.
Officers of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate and employees of the Moscow Administrative Road Inspection Office will be monitoring the traffic situation during the holidays.
Since 1 January 2016, parking has been free everywhere in Moscow on Sundays and holidays, with the exception of gated parking lots.
This year, Defender of the Fatherland Day coincides with Maslenitsa celebrations. From 17 through 26 February, the Moscow Maslenitsa festival will entertain residents and guests of the city. Mass festivities, historical re-enactments, street theatre performances, art and culinary workshops and much more will await visitors at 13 festival venues in central Moscow.
More than 30 vending points will offer the pleasures of the Maslenitsa table: buckwheat, chocolate and Guryev pancakes, as well as pancakes made according to foreign recipes.
