A new semi-express bus route, to be launched soon in Moscow, will connect six metro lines: the Zamoskvoretskaya, the Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya, the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya, the Sokolnicheskaya, the Solntsevskaya and the Filyovskaya lines. Bus No 908 will run between the Kashirskaya to the Filyovskaya metro stations every five to 10 minutes.
“Bus No. 130 has been running between the Filyovsky Park and Profsoyuznaya stations, a route designated for the upcoming semi-express programme. It currently makes all the stops. However, it is rapid bus service that is most in demand in Moscow, which led us to launch a new semi-express bus,” Deputy Moscow Mayor, Head of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development Maxim Liksutov said.
He added that the new bus will run along Kashirskaya Motorway, Kolomensky Proyezd, Nakhimovsky Prospekt, Lomonosovsky Prospekt and Minskaya Street. That way, it will link the above six metro lines. It will provide residents with expressway-like transit connectivity.
There are nine semi-express buses operating in Moscow as of now. Two of them, No. 906 (1st Mikrorayon Shcherbinki – Ulitsa Akademika Yangelya metro station) and No. 911 (Salaryevo metro station – Vnukovo Airport) were launched last year. Around 10,000 riders use them on weekdays.
The buses use designated transit lanes and have limited stops. Every day 125,000 riders choose semi-express buses. They look like any other buses, feature the same reduced fare schemes, and accept all the city’s fare tickets.
