Moscow Maslenitsa festival guests to play croquet, Kolobok-ball and pancake curling

Moscow Maslenitsa festival guests are invited to play outdoor sport games, which is the best way to stay warm. Children and adults will be able to train and take part in friendly relay races under the guidance of experienced instructors.

As usual, Tverskoi Boulevard will host most of the festival’s sport events. People will be able to learn croquet, jump on trampolines and play basketball near the monument to Russian scientist Kliment Timiryazev. The Goose Hunt game is a test for the quick and nimble who should capture a “goose” by tossing a ring onto its neck.

A cheese relay race will be held near the monument to poet Sergei Yesenin, with participants rolling huge 1.5-metre cheese wheels. The fastest participant wins.

Kolobok-ball competitions, a team game for children resembling broom-ball and involving balls shaped like round Kolobok loaves, will take place on a sporting ground where the boulevard begins, at 28 Tverskoi Boulevard. This game is also similar to hockey, with players using brooms to roll Koloboks.

All sporting grounds on Tverskoi Boulevard will be open from noon to 8 pm.

Festival-goers can also play sport games on Revolution Square. The Maslenitsa Tournaments sporting ground will offer such games as pancake curling and pancake Frisbee. At the pancake shooting gallery, guests will try to fling pancakes into a stove using a slingshot.
