On 2 January, 16,195 people took to the ice at Moscow’s VDNKh exhibition centre, while the New Year celebrations there drew over 10,000 visitors.
From 11 am to 3 pm on 2 January, 4,237 people visited the rink, while from 5 pm to 11 pm 11,958 people went skating there. A total of 6,721 pairs of skates were hired. As part of the New Year holiday programme at VDNKh, entertainers dressed in exotic clothing pose for photos with visitors and hold various contests and competitions. Every Friday, professional coaches will offer ice-skating classes, with a Latin dance class on 6 January, a European-style dance class on 13 January, a Middle Eastern dance class on 20 January, and a two-step dance class on 27 January.
For kids, the Merry Friends event will run at weekends from 12 pm to 3 pm, with favourite animated cartoon characters helping children take their first steps on the ice.
On Saturdays from 10 am to 12 pm and Sundays from 11 am to 1 pm, VDNKh guests will be able to take part in Morning Workout on Ice, which alternates warm ups for all muscle groups with dance moves to upbeat music.
Those who wish to visit the VDNKh skating rink are advised to plan their visit beforehand. The busiest hours are from 5 pm to 8 pm, while the first half of the day and after 8.30 pm are less crowded times.
