Routine maintenance at the Marina Tsvetayeva Museum, which is based in the poet’s childhood home, will be carried out prior to the 125th anniversary of her birthday. On 11 December, the memorial apartment will close to visitors.
Repairs will last until late April 2017, so that by May the renovated museum will be prepared to receive visitors and hold events dedicated to the poet’s birthday throughout the next year. As for now, the concert hall will be holding various events until 16 December when it will host the finals of the poetry recital competition, Tsvetayeva Speaking.
During repairs, the museum will move to other sites in Moscow and build up a strong presence on the internet. Late in December, it will start running a virtual exhibit on its official website, which will describe the Tsvetayeva family’s tradition of celebrating Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Last August, the museum launched an upgraded version of its website, which offers information about trips, exhibitions and other events and allows users to view timetables for organ music concerts and the cinema lecture centre and learn about the museum’s collections and recent acquisitions.
