Over 20 million passengers have used the new Magistral system in central Moscow. The new bus routes were launched two months ago, on 8 October.
Over two months, close to 20 million passengers have taken advantage of the new routes. On average, the routes within the Kremlin ring are used by about 125,000 passengers per day.
About 450,000 passengers use the new bus routes daily within the Garden Ring. Passenger traffic increased 40 percent on the routes within the Kremlin Ring and by 17 percent within the Garden Ring in the first week of the revamped service.
The new Magistral public transit system was launched in Moscow on 8 October. The system includes 17 ‘direct radial routes,’ 15 ‘direct local routes,’ and seven ‘social facility routes.’
The new system has made it easier for riders to get to the city centre without using the metro. About 400 buses, trolleybuses and trams are part of the streamlined system. They are fully equipped and adapted for passengers with limited mobility.
