Autumn is a season of change, indeed, and observing the animal world during this time is especially fascinating. Moscow Zoo’s online broadcasts offer the opportunity for anyone who wishes to take an advantage. The broadcast on zoo.mos.ru is available daily during the zoo’s opening hours; you can also replay at night.

Watching the fattening up Pallas’s cat
The winter is around the corner. So, Timofey the Pallas’s cat, who is Moscow Zoo’s mascot, is rapidly gaining weight and growing even fluffier. However, he gets quite active, finding himself on the move more and more often in search of food. Watching Timofey from your home provides a special cosy feeling, indeed.

Lifting your spirits
As the days grow shorter, it is crucial to find a source of positive emotions, while observing animals is beneficial for overall well-being and offers a great opportunity to catch some cute and funny moments. Among the most active stars on screen — those who delight viewers most often — are charming giant pandas, charismatic East Siberian lynx, fearless honey badgers, playful sun bears, curious meerkats, and close-knit giant otters.
Enjoying October at the zoo
In autumn, the outdoor enclosures look especially picturesque. At this time, it is worth taking a closer look at the Amur leopard, the puma, raccoons, capybaras and camelids or keep an eye on red-crowned cranes and various types of pheasants. One can observe changes in the animals’ behaviour and how the setting within their enclosures transforms, just sitting in front of a computer screen.

Getting inspired to stroll at Moscow Zoo
The online broadcast can easily spark a desire to visit the zoo and meet many rare animal species face-to-face. Its two interconnected grounds offer some open spaces for visitors to take a stroll during the warmer months and, what is more, a variety of indoor pavilions that remain comfortable in any weather. Autumn is also a great time to observe birds and pinnipeds, visit the Exotarium and the Primate House, or explore other indoor exhibits; zoo tickets can be bought without any markups or extra fees on Mosbilet.
In addition, the Pinnipeds Pavilion invites to yoga sessions with a view of a pool for fur seals, walruses, and spotted seals. The number of spots for each session is limited; the fee includes an admission ticket to the zoo.

Something to make your day
On top of that, for fans of the underwater world and those seeking a special sense of tranquillity, the mos.ru web-portal offers a live stream from the Flooded Forest, an exhibit at the Moskvarium Centre for Oceanography and Marine Biology. It is a large freshwater aquarium, and you can observe the life inside it every day from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.; alternatively, you can watch a replay at night. The idea is simple. Just play a broadcast on your PC or TV and enjoy watching a home aquarium that is full of redtail catfish, arapaimas, black pacu, and tiger shovelnose catfish, plus a mermaid swimming all over on weekends.
Use Mosbilet to buy a ticket to visit VDNKh’s Moskvarium in order to explore all the exhibits in person.
Underwater world online: Watching daily Moskvarium live broadcasts on mos.ru
Kicked off in 2024, the project featuring Moscow Zoo online broadcasts is a collaboration with the Moscow Department of Information Technologies. In 2026, it was enhanced with Moskvarium underwater broadcasts.
In early 2025, the zoo supervised by the Moscow Department of Culture set a world record for the number of animal species as it accounted for 1,253 species; by 2026, their number approached 1,280. That was the result of the long-term effort taken by zoologists, veterinarians, keepers, and other staff.
Opened in 2015, Moskvarium is one of Europe’s largest aquariums. Spanning over 53,000 square meters, its aquariums and pools contain approximately 25 million litres of water. In fact, it is not just an aquarium, but also a major cultural and leisure space, as well as a scientific centre for oceanography and marine biology employing a team of highly skilled hydrobiologists, ichthyologists, veterinarians, biochemists, and other experts.
