The list includes the Large Rose Garden and Golden Pond at Sokolniki Park, Kuskovo Estate Museum, Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve, Vorontsovo Estate, and the eco-trails near Vorobyovy Gory metro station.

Autumn in Moscow is the perfect time for photo walks in parks overseen by the Moscow Department of Culture. The combination of nature and 18 th- and 19 th-century architecture creates a harmonious setting of golden foliage, historic estates, ponds, and alleys, making every shot atmospheric.

Sokolniki Park: roses, statues and Golden Pond

Sokolniki Park offers two ideal locations for an autumn photo shoot. The first is the Large Rose Garden, where the second wave of flowering is underway and the plants are taking on new autumn colors. Visitors can photograph not only flowers but also statues that blend naturally into the landscape, including the historic Girl with a Jug and Girl with a Bowl figures. The Large Rose Garden is open until October 15, after which it closes for the winter season.

The second location is Golden Pond, which was created back in 1840 on the site of natural forest lakes. It is now ideal for autumn photos, with the water reflecting the colorful foliage.

In November 2025, Sergei Sobyanin announced the completion of the second stage of improvements at Sokolniki Park. The area around Bolshoy (First) Putyayevsky Pond was upgraded, a unified recreation area was created by Golden Pond and eight large children’s playgrounds were built.

The third stage of improvements at Sokolniki Park will cover more than 200 hectares, including the Lilac Garden, the cascades of the Putyayevskiye and Olenyi ponds, and other areas. The comprehensive improvement and rehabilitation of the park is scheduled for completion in 2027.

Kuskovo Estate Museum: a riot of color and French elegance

Golden autumn at Kuskovo is a true kaleidoscope of colors. Autumn plants are in bloom in the park’s parterre, while summer seems to linger in the rose garden.

The Palace viewed from the parterre, the Grotto Pavilion and the Italian House ensemble look particularly striking in photographs. Autumn leaves are already settling on the surface of the pond, adding depth to photographs with this subtle seasonal transition. The Hermitage Pavilion is one of the park’s most vibrant locations.

The urban forest’s bridges are ideal for portrait photography. Those looking for more dynamic shots can visit the pump track and skate park.

Kolomenskoye: gardens and panoramic views

Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve reveals all its variety in autumn. The Dyakovsky, Kazansky and Voznesensky orchards are especially picturesque, with their foliage creating a vivid mosaic of colors.

The Church of the Ascension, which Sergei Sobyanin opened in July following restoration, offers panoramic views of the Moskva River for photographs. From Tsarskaya Embankment, several iconic views can be captured at once, including the renovated embankment, panoramas of Dyakovo ancient settlement and the Church of the Ascension.

Vorontsovo Estate: reflections and architectural accents

Vorontsovo Estate is a place where the autumn landscape and 18 th- and 19 th-century architecture form a harmonious combination. The cascade of ponds, oak grove and Italian and Chinese gardens create a natural park landscape.

The pond cascade and observation bridge are excellent locations for panoramic photographs. The gardens offer a variety of compositions, featuring details of the foliage, the textures of the paths and light playing through the tree canopies. In autumn, the estate’s wings look especially beautiful against the golden foliage, while the entrance gate ensemble on the side of Arkhitektor Vlasov Street adds a contrasting architectural accent to photographs.

Vorobyovy Gory: eco-trails, observation decks and the Autumn sculpture

Vorobyovy Gory is a place where visitors can capture a true autumn fairy tale almost in the heart of the city. Two eco-trails offer picturesque views, while a small observation deck near Andreyevskiye Ponds and the gazebos make excellent photo locations.

A walking route from Vorobyovy Gory metro station leads deep into the forest toward Neskuchny Garden, another place where autumn reveals itself in especially vivid colors. Hidden among the trees is the Autumn sculpture, located above the slope of a ravine near the entrance from Leninsky Prospekt No. 30.

Autumn is a time when Moscow’s parks reveal themselves in a new way. Historic estates and renovated spaces come together to create a harmonious setting for walks and photo shoots, where every corner seems made for capturing warm moments on camera.
