Rose gardens and Golden Pond in Sokolniki Park, Krugly (Round) Pond and the music pavilion in Izmailovsky Park, the maple and larch alleys in Troparevsky Park, and the tennis and basketball courts in Festivalny Park have been named as some of the city’s favorite spots.

2026 is a milestone year for Sokolniki, Izmailovsky, Festivalny, Lianozovsky, and other parks and green spaces across Moscow. To mark the occasion, the Active Citizen project dedicated a series of polls to the city’s parks. Participants shared their favorite places to go for a walk and said what kinds of events they would like to see there.

“Moscow continues to develop public spaces based on residents’ wishes. The latest series of polls drew more than a million opinions, which will help make leisure time in the parks even more comfortable and the events calendar even more engaging for city residents,” said Natalya Sergunina, Deputy Moscow Mayor.

For example, in Sokolniki Park, poll participants said they enjoy strolling through the large and small rose gardens, as well as around Golden Pond, an area that was renovated last year, making it even more inviting.

In Izmailovsky Park, residents singled out Krugly (Round) Pond, with its boat station, and the music pavilion, while in Troparevsky Park, they favored the maple and larch alleys. In Festivalny Park, which has numerous sports grounds, Muscovites most often choose to play table tennis and basketball.

According to the polls, festivals, concerts, and workshops are the most popular types of events in Moscow’s parks.

The Active Citizen project was launched in Moscow in 2014. Since then, more than seven million people have joined the project, and the total number of polls has surpassed seven thousand. Every month, between 30 and 40 decisions made by residents are put into action.
