The lines are expanding alongside the infrastructure required to service modern, technologically advanced Russian-made trains. Construction is currently underway on the new Novorizhskoye, Biryulyovskoye, and Troitskoye metro depots.

More than 20 stations are currently under construction on six Moscow Metro lines, as reported by Vladimir Yefimov, Deputy Moscow Mayor for Urban Planning Policy and Construction.

“Metro construction is one of our key priorities. More than 20 metro stations are currently under construction on six lines: the operating Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya, Troitskaya, Circle, Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya, and Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya lines, as well as the Biryulyovskaya radial line, which is under construction. We are certainly not stopping there. Sergei Sobyanin has approved plans for the further development of the metro. By 2035, we plan to build about 35 more metro stations in Moscow and the surrounding region, with 12 of them in the Moscow Region. They will be built in Khimki, Mytishchi, Balashikha, Krasnogorsk, and the Leninsky Urban District,” Vladimir Yefimov said.

In addition to the construction of station complexes, tunneling continues on future lines. On the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line, excavation of two tunnels is nearing completion: a single-track tunnel between the SberCity and Novorizhskaya stations and a double-track tunnel between the Serebryany Bor and Strogino stations, driven by the 10-meter Liliya tunnel boring machine. On the future Biryulyovskaya radial line, three six-meter tunnel boring machines are excavating tunnels between the ZIL and Ostrov Mechty stations and from Klenovy Bulvar toward the Kuryanovo station. Tunneling also continues on the Troitskaya line between the Novomoskovskaya and Sosenki stations and between the Vatutinki and Kedrovaya stations.

Alongside line development and station construction, the city is creating the infrastructure required to service modern and technologically advanced Russian-made trains. Work is currently underway on the new Novorizhskoye, Biryulyovskoye, and Troitskoye metro depots. They will provide maintenance and repairs for the rolling stock of the new metro radial lines and enable full operation of future line sections.
