Dividing areas for different activities makes courtyards more convenient for residents of all ages. Moscow residents can exercise, play or relax nearby in a quieter setting.

When improving Moscow’s courtyards and public gardens, particular attention is paid to creating spaces for quiet recreation. Specialists from the Moscow Municipal Property Complex install park swings, pergolas, gazebos, garden sofas and benches where people can sit during a walk, read or chat with neighbors.

Such spaces are becoming an integral part of the modern urban environment. They are particularly important in large improved areas that also include children’s playgrounds, exercise equipment and areas for team games. By separating areas for different activities, they make courtyards more convenient for residents of all ages. Moscow residents can exercise, play or relax nearby in a quieter setting.

One such space has been created in the Basmanny District on Ladozhskaya Street in the Nemetsky Rynok public garden. It was located away from the noisiest areas and separated from the main pedestrian flows. Comfortable park swings were installed here, with a children’s playground and a sports cluster nearby. Different recreational opportunities are concentrated within a single area without visitors disturbing one another.

Another example is a courtyard on Bolshaya Pereyaslavskaya Street in the Meshchansky District where the improved area combines play and sports zones with recreation spaces. Different types of benches and suspended park swings have been installed for residents, so the courtyard is now a place both for active recreation and for relaxing outdoors.

A large recreation area has been created in the Troitsk District on 2nd Novovatutinskaya Street and Novovatutinsky Prospekt. In addition to play and sports zones, gazebos and pergolas with suspended benches have been installed there, allowing parents to stay close to their children while other residents can spend time in a quieter part of the courtyard.
