Summer in Moscow: performers from three countries to take the stage at the Theater Boulevard Festival
The Theater Boulevard Festival held by the Moscow Department of Culture brings together performers from Russia and other countries. In July, spectators are invited to shows by Spanish, Armenian and Chinese actors. The festival is part of the Summer in Moscow project.
At 08:00 p. m. July 15 and 16, the Catalonia Flamenco Ballet presents Spanish Blood on the Gorky Park stage. The performance will feature five dancers and three musicians. The music agency presenting it is based in Seville, acting as an international platform for promoting the art of dance, from major ballet performances to intimate chamber programs. The Catalonia Ballet catapults flamenco to the level of high performance art and presents the Spanish dance traditions at the world’s largest festivals and theaters. No entrance fees are charged. Tickets are required to enter the parterre.
Komitas by the Song Theatre of Armenia continues the international program at 07:00 p. m. July 16 on the Krug Stage at Chistoprudny Boulevard and July 17 in Kolomenskoye. The show is dedicated to Komitas Vardapet, composer, etnomusicologist, priest and one of the key symbols of the Armenian culture. More than just a life story on stage, it is an artistic and spiritual contemplation of musical legacy, national memory and internal drama of the man who transformed Armenian folk music into a universal cultural language. The show is open to the public.
At 07:00 p. m. July 17 and 18, an immersive show from China called The Spirit of Marital Arts in Our Heart, Culture in Our Movement will take place on Pushkinskaya Embankment in Gorky Park. It is a spectacular, kung fu show featuring stunts and one-on-one fights and presented by the Chinese Academy of Marital Arts. It blends together multiple formats: presentation, show and interactive elements. No entrance fees are charged. Tickets are required to enter the parterre.
Previously, the Theater Boulevard international program featured the Total Theater Company (Almaty) with their shows, Welcome, Nauryz! and Adventures of Funtik the Piglet, and the Folk Spirit music show by Armenian folk bands Kayts and Njdeh.
The festival’s third season lasts from May 30 to August 30, 2026. Its stages can be found on Pushkinskaya Embankment in Gorky Park, in the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve, on Pokrovsky and Chistoprudny boulevards and in the park by the Polytechnic Museum. The Diligence mobile stage is the newest addition found on weekends in various parks all over Moscow.
The festival helps make professional stage arts more accessible for the broad public, integrate theater into urban environments, support independent youth and regional collectives. Leading theaters like Moscow Art Theatre or Maly Theatre and star actors, including principal dancers from Bolshoi Theatre, take part in it as well.
In June, Theater Boulevard venues welcomed over 100 troupes from Moscow, Novosibirsk, Saint Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Yaroslavl, Samara and other cities. They have presented over 300 stage shows and interactive programs in a month. Visitors were treated to opera and ballet performances, musicals and poetry shows, had a chance to join acting and dancing lessons and met creators.

Summer in Moscow is the jewel in the crown of the season, which has grown into the capital’s cherished tradition and trademark. Its current motto is Time to Be Together. The project unites people of different generations around shared values, enabling them to feel closer to family and friends and also to the whole city: whether when taking a walk, visiting a cultural or sporting event, or donating at charity drives, or right on their own doorsteps in every district across the capital.
