Moscow International Film Week to run in late August
On August 24–30, the capital is going to run the Moscow International Film Week (MIFW); its third edition will span multiple venues, such as Moskino Film Park and Moskino film factory, same-name cinema chain, the Khudozhestvenny cinema theater, and a cinema on wheels traveling to some hotspots across the city, as announced by Deputy Moscow Mayor Natalya Sergunina.
“Everyone will be able to watch the latest Russian and foreign films, join the Cinema Night, meet with famous filmmakers, or choose from a range of lectures, short tours and master classes. The business program will include more than forty industry-focused sessions,” Natalya Sergunina says.
The event will feature expert discussions involving professionals from Russia, India, Thailand, Turkey, etc. It will also include a business program to run at the Moskino film factory on August 27–28.
Its participants to discuss key production and promotion challenges, the use of artificial intelligence, changing audience preferences, and the role of online platforms, to name just a few issues. They will also see the opportunities that the Moscow film cluster offers to film people.

An audience of thousands and international projects
Last year, MIFW was attended by more than 700,000 people with resulting cooperation agreements with counterparts in Egypt, Mexico, Brazil and Turkey; it also saw the first applications for rebates to partially compensate for the costs of Moscow-based international projects.
In particular, the grant program has powered the production of a Russian-Indian film revolving around the story of a badminton player who travels with the Russian national team to a tournament in India. In addition, it backs a joint Russian-Uzbek project about the heroism of the Tashkent Division soldiers who took part in the Battle of Moscow, the production to kick off this year.
A collaboration between the Moscow Department of Culture and Moskino, an autonomous non-profit organization, the Moscow International Film Week is part of the Moscow as the City of Cinema project aimed at building a multifunctional ecosystem for the creation of films, TV series and other television shows. Moscow’s film cluster includes the Gorky Film Studio, a cinema park, a film industry committee, a film platform, Moskino film factory, and Moskino cinema chain.
