How elaborate renovation will metamorphose Kuzminki-Lyublino
In the capital, a large-scale project is underway to renovate the Kuzminki-Lyublino Museum-Reserve under the Moscow Parks Development Program. Its infrastructure facilities are to be improved and evenly distributed throughout the estate so that visitors can comfortably use the recreation areas and services. The project consists of several stages and will be completed within two years.
In 2026, the entrance, parterre areas, and the central part of Kuzminki Park will be renovated to set a promenade alley with fountains and flower beds and build an eco-trail running at the height of 4.5 meters above the ground in the picturesque sylvan landscape. The project’s focus is however to carefully adapt its infrastructure to present-day comfort and safety standards, preserving the object of landscape gardening art.
Sports, games and BBQ grounds
Particular attention will be paid to the sports facilities. The 1,600-square-meter skate park will be reconstructed; the sports grounds, table tennis areas, and the ice rink will be renovated, too. Builders will also arrange cutting-edge trendy workout grounds and an equipped welcoming dog training environment.
The park will have twice the number of children’s play grounds, all meeting prevailing safety standards. They will also set barbecue sites making them larger to accommodate more people and install nineteen gazebos of various sizes. In addition, the park will feature rental points, restaurants, cafes, coffeeshops, a lecture hall, and a coworking space.
Another goal of the landscaping project is to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Moscow Versailles, as it was referred to in the 19 th century. Alongside the improvements, they are doing a large-scale restoration, with 32 architectural landmarks to be restored to return their original appearance and be adapted for contemporary museum uses over the next two years.
Promenades and comfort
The area will have advanced navigation and lighting systems, resurfaced paths, more flower beds, trees, and shrubs.
The renovation will separate different leisure formats for quiet spots to no longer overlap with active recreation spaces and festive venues. There will be more cozy corners for peaceful walks or gatherings with family members and friends.
At the central entrance an information booth will be installed for everyone to learn more about the project’s roadmap and design solutions.
The Kuzminki-Lyublino Museum-Reserve is a remarkable cultural heritage site, a natural habitat and historical setting for a distinctive centuries-old country lifestyle. Indeed, it is a unique open-air museum of the Russian mansion culture. Noteworthy, the park’s grounds were last renovated fifteen years ago, so its infrastructure has become outdated and partially fallen into disrepair. No comprehensive improvements have been carried out at Kuzminki Estate since 1918, that is, for more than one hundred years.
Parks of Moscow is an ambitious city-wide initiative focused on setting up comfortable, modern, multi-purpose recreation areas for Muscovites and tourists. It embraces more than 50 parks that have been transformed into popular hotspots for engaging in sports, culture, family leisure, and communion with nature. On top of preserving unique landscapes and ecosystems, the project also enhances its parks with modern infrastructure.
